Rather than creating likenesses of real people in my artwork, I focus on figures from my dreams and childhood memories in order to create characters that are not based on reality. "I work in this manner not only to pay homage to my childhood visual memories, which were rooted in Akan cultural images, but also to make the themes explored in Strangers more accessible to the viewer."
