About Collection
WHAT ARE CROOKZ AND WHERE DO THEY COME FROM? Crookz is an NFT collective made up of 9,999 individually generated 3D personas issued by the Nixon Reserve that lives on the ETH blockchain in a post-$USD metaverse. Crookz are a caricatured image of dubious capitalistic creatures ready to pounce on any beneficial possibilities they come across within the metaverse, in a virtual world of growing decentralized currencies. THE INTERPRETATION Nixon, the artist behind Crookz, is well-known for his currency/crypto-themed street/pop art. He uses both traditional and digital means to derive inspiration and aesthetics from contemporary pop culture and economic satire. Nixon is tremendously excited about cryptocurrencies and the future prospects of decentralization, in addition to street culture. There's a hidden message and a homage to the past that led us here, as well as a focus on innovative art. The fate of the US dollar and what we now call paper currency was sealed in 1971 by US President Richard Nixon. By removing the US dollar's convertibility to gold, Nixon gave the Federal Reserve unrestricted inflationary power, paving the way for the traditional currency's eventual demise. His final parting comments would be permanently cemented in history when he was eventually removed and forced to resign owing to claims of corruption and espionage. "I'm not a thief," she says emphatically.
